The dragon djinn by kirby warner

Read the exciting first book in The Songs of Dathos, a planned trilogy by debut author Kirby Warner!

Jordan knew he should leave the book alone. After all, reading from a musty tome written in an unknown language never invites anything good. But between going against common sense for a slim Hail Mary or being stuck forever in a creepy house with snake people lurking in the shadows, the choice seems obvious. Hell, someone even left behind a cool sword, so that’s something. Reading the passage does help Jordan get out…only to sweep him to the unfamiliar world of Dathos, landing in front of a fiery princess who instantly attacks him for being a kidnapping pervert-assassin.

Which isn’t really fair considering Jordan hadn’t even gotten a chance to breathe.

Vienna needs an out from an arranged marriage, and Jordan, with nothing but the sword and the music on his phone, needs a guide in this dangerous new world. The two set off on a quest to discover why Jordan is on Dathos, gathering a motley crew along the way consisting of a stoic swordswoman, a thief and her bard brother, and a chimera cub with a propensity for accidental arson. Together, they are pointed in the direction of a djinn in ancient ruins and must race against a smug but dangerous sorcerer to reach it.

However, in the wake of Jordan and Vienna’s escape from the palace, tensions between the castes of Galenthes erupt into full scale revolution. At the center of this conflict is the famed dragon-slayer Alexandre, whose choices may yet impact Dathos in ways only fate can know. And as Jordan gets closer to Vienna, he wonders if he really wants to go home after all…

About the author

Kirby Warner has been obsessed with stories since the moment he could talk. An avid consumer of books, movies and video games, he had dabbled in bits of writing here and there before firmly deciding to become an author in his senior year of high school. While writing features stories for Texas Tech’s The Daily Toreador, he came up with the initial ideas for Dathos, and after graduating began to write what would become The Dragon Djinn in earnest. This will be his debut novel.

Kirby currently lives in Texas with his wife Cady, their dog Daisy, and their three cats Onion, Wynnie, and Squeegee (listed from least to most naughty). When he’s not writing, he can be found cooking or re-playing The Legend of Zelda games.
